2010 ACR North American Conference

Dear ACR friends,

We are looking forward to welcoming you all to the Association for Consumer Research conference in sunny Jacksonville, Florida, October 7 through 10, 2010. The theme of ACR 2010 is: "Think BIG. Big Ideas. Big Findings." We hope this year's conference will showcase lots of "big picture" theories that have wide application and "big" phenomena that are of real importance to consumers' lives.

We have made some changes to the conference that should promote big picture communication:

- Every session will have four, shorter talks. Session chairs are asked to kick-start discussion about big picture implications at the end of special and competitive paper sessions.

- Abstracts in the program will be shorter, encouraging authors to clearly communicate their big picture ideas.

- The conference will be greener as a result of shorter program booklets, a build-your-own-program internet tool, and by offering participants the option of buying carbon offsets for travel to the conference during the time of registration.

- Posters featuring working papers will be up throughout the conference (after the poster session on Thursday evening), so you can check out the latest big-picture research whenever you have a moment to spare.

- ACR newcomers will have the opportunity to sign up on the registration form to meet ACR regulars for research chats during coffee breaks.

- And last but not least, Friday night will feature a pre-dinner reception at a museum and Saturday night will feature a beach party with DJoy Srivastava at the turntables.

We expect to have our acceptance decisions ready at the end of June and will be in touch with all of you. We  look forward to seeing you in Jacksonville!
