The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, built on the site of the home of Arthur and Ninah Cummer, opened its doors November 10, 1961. The San Marco Theater was built in 1938 by a nationally recognized architect -Roy Benjamin (who also built the beautiful Florida Theatre). Benjamin having to keep up with current trends dropped the Moorish, Spanish and Italianate designs and converted to Art Deco when designing the San Marco Theatre. The sole auditorium shows new releases, sells food, and serves beer and wine.
