Sites and Bites in San Francisco
San Francisco is an alluring city with fantastic sites, impressive culture (high and low), and world-class restaurants. Of course, the city is not even remotely more alluring than ACR programming but we hope that you will walk around a bit after taking in the working paper sessions, especially on Saturday when no early evening reception is planned (but be sure to return for ACR Halloween at 9:00 pm). Sunday presents the happy choice of a tour of wine country (see the link on the conference site at http://www.acrweb.org/acr/public/availability.aspx ) or taking in the local sites, neighborhood by neighborhood. To aid you in getting around town and perhaps coordinating with other ACR members, below are links to a set of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Walking Tours, with sites, shopping, and restaurants, conveniently organized by neighborhood. We are indebted to Kathleen O’Donnell, San Francisco State University, who served as arrangements chair for ACR2008 and prepared these user-friendly materials. Note the handy-dandy directions and maps for your convenience:
